10 Stocks Top Fund Managers Have Been Buying Amid Market Uncertainty

Despite a volatile stretch in 2026 marked by shifting interest rates, stubborn inflation, and geopolitical friction, the US stock market has remained surprisingly resilient. The Morningstar US Market Index climbed nearly 14 percent through mid-August, though the gains have felt uneven. While technology and artificial intelligence stocks initially led the charge, a wave of skepticism has begun to ripple through the market regarding whether the massive spending on AI infrastructure will actually translate into sustainable profits.

To understand how the smartest investors are navigating this uncertainty, an analysis of elite fund managers reveals a clear pattern of strategic accumulation. By filtering for highly rated actively managed funds with concentrated portfolios, researchers identified thirty nine top tier managers who have been quietly adjusting their holdings over the last quarter. Their recent activity suggests that while some fear an AI bubble, the professionals are doubling down on the foundational architecture of the digital economy.

Semi conductor giants dominate the shopping list, with firms like Nvidia, Micron Technology, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing seeing increased interest. KLA emerged as a particular favorite among eleven different top managers. Despite being viewed as slightly overvalued by some analysts, KLA’s dominance in wafer fabrication equipment makes it a critical play for those betting on increasingly complex chip designs required for high bandwidth memory and advanced AI applications.

Beyond hardware, these fund managers are seeking value in diversified tech behemoths like Alphabet. Viewed as significantly undervalued by Morningstar analysts, Alphabet continues to attract “smart money” due to its immense free cash flow and its ability to integrate generative AI into its core search and advertising engines. Other notable additions to these elite portfolios include Eli Lilly and DoorDash, signaling that while AI remains the primary driver, top managers are diversifying into healthcare and consumer platforms to hedge against sector specific volatility.
