    The cryptocurrency industry is making a massive play for power in Washington, deploying a sophisticated network of super PACs to ensure the next Congress remains friendly to digital assets. Fairshake and its affiliated groups announced on Monday that they are throwing their weight behind 32 House incumbents, splitting their support between 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats. This strategic move aims to preserve a bipartisan bloc of lawmakers who view crypto innovation as a national priority rather than a regulatory liability.

    This surge in spending follows a significant setback for the industry, specifically the failure of the CLARITY Act to advance in the Senate. As the primary piece of legislation intended to clarify token trading and shift oversight away from the SEC toward the CFTC, its stagnation means the future of American crypto regulation hangs in the balance. By backing candidates like French Hill and Bill Huizenga, who hold key positions on the House Financial Services Committee, Fairshake is betting that keeping these allies in office is the only way to get their signature bill across the finish line.

    With deep pockets provided by heavy hitters like Coinbase, Ripple, and Andreessen Horowitz, Fairshake isn’t lacking for resources. The network entered September with over 120 million dollars in cash reserves across its various arms, including Protect Progress for Democrats and Defend American Jobs for Republicans. While specific totals weren’t disclosed for every candidate, at least one million dollars is earmarked for six high-priority incumbents across several swing states.

    This effort represents just one part of a broader campaign to reshape federal policy through electoral pressure. Earlier this year, Fairshake saw immense success in primarires, winning 53 out of 57 contested races they backed. They have also taken aim at higher profiles targets, pouring tens of millions into efforts to unseat critics of the industry like Senator Sherrod Brown in Ohio. For those funding these campaigns, the goal is clear: transform crypto from a legal gray area into a protected pillar of American finance through sheer political force.
