Bitcoin, ether surge as Trump urges Congress to pass crypto Clarity Act

Digital assets saw a dramatic rally today as President Donald Trump called on Congress to fast track the Crypto Clarity Act, a piece of legislation expected to provide much needed regulatory certainty for the industry. Bitcoin climbed roughly five percent to reach nearly seventy two thousand dollars, while Ether experienced an even sharper jump of over nine percent. This sudden burst of optimism extended beyond the major coins, with the Hyperliquid token surging twenty five percent following hints from the president regarding potential regulations for the popular decentralized exchange.

The surge comes at a time when cryptocurrency traders were growing restless after weeks of stagnant prices. For several months, Bitcoin had been trapped in a tight range, leading many analysts to describe the environment as frustratingly quiet. However, this recent movement has sparked one of the largest short liquidations in history, catching bearish traders off guard and pushing Ether toward a three month high. Market volatility has spiked accordingly, signaling a return of aggressive trading activity across the board.

Beyond political rhetoric, broader economic shifts provided additional fuel for the climb. A decision by the U.S. Treasury to significantly increase buybacks of long dated government bonds led to a drop in Treasury yields, making riskier assets like Bitcoin more attractive to institutional investors. Trading volume for the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF soared well above its monthly average as investors reacted to these favorable macroeconomic conditions combined with promising policy signals from Washington.

Industry experts suggest that this alignment of government support and monetary shifts could set the stage for another massive run. Some researchers at Standard Chartered believe current trends indicate Bitcoin may be positioning itself for a push toward one hundred thousand dollars by late 2026. While still trailing behind its previous record highs set last year, the latest momentum suggests that crypto markets are once again responding powerfully to any sign of legislative progress and shifting federal financial policies.
