OlloBot is showing its OlloNi SS1 companion robot, one designed around ongoing interaction rather than task-based assistance.
According to the Hong Kong-based company, OlloNi SS1 is a companion robot that combines emotional AI with physical interaction. Unlike service or home-assistant robots built primarily to perform tasks, OlloBot said the system is designed to develop personalized interactions with users over time.
“The key question is not only what robots can do, but what relationships they can build.” founder Lyn Fang said in the announcement.
OlloNi SS1 uses the company’s EmpathCore emotional-intelligence engine to interpret user interactions and contextual signals. OlloBot said its Affinilog interaction system and Memory Heart Module are designed to support personalization and retain information from previous interactions.
The company describes the product as part of an emerging “Cyber Pet” category combining AI software with an embodied device. OlloBot said OlloNi SS1 is intended to interact with the physical world while adapting to user preferences through continued use.
OlloBot has also postponed a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that had been planned for late August. The company attributed the delay to product-readiness considerations and changing regulatory and market conditions, but did not provide a new launch date.
The company, which is a member of the BizConf Technology Co., Ltd., said it plans to provide additional updates on OlloNi SS1 in the coming months. The robot is being demonstrated at OlloBot’s booth during IFA Berlin through Sept. 8.
