Oracle’s stock jumps 7% on earnings beat as cloud infrastructure revenue more than doubles

Oracle shares surged following a strong quarterly report that highlighted the company’s aggressive push into the artificial intelligence landscape. The software giant saw its stock jump after reporting adjusted earnings of 1.92 dollars per share and total revenue of 19.35 billion dollars, both figures comfortably exceeding analyst expectations. Much of this momentum is being driven by a massive acceleration in cloud services, with overall cloud revenue soaring 62 percent to reach 11.61 billion dollars during the period ending August 31.

The standout figure for investors was the performance of Oracle’s cloud infrastructure, which more than doubled to 7.4 billion dollars. This explosive growth reflects the company’s strategic pivot toward becoming a primary provider for AI workloads, evidenced by more than 30 billion dollars in new AI contracts signed during the first quarter alone. To support this scale, Oracle has ramped up its physical footprint significantly, delivering 850 megawatts of data center capacity recently despite some industry chatter regarding potential delays at its New Mexico site.

However, this rapid expansion comes with a steep price tag. The company’s capital expenditures skyrocketed to 28.50 billion dollars from just 8.50 billion dollars a year prior, contributing to negative free cash flow of 5.4 billion dollars. With debts currently sitting at around 125 billion dollars, Oracle maintains a leaner cash position and a lower credit rating than some of its larger hyperscale rivals, suggesting that while growth is accelerating, it requires significant financial leverage to maintain pace with the AI boom.

Looking forward, leadership remains optimistic about long term scalability and profitability. CFO Hilary Maxson indicated that current project timelines remain intact and aligned with their future outlooks, while CEO Clay Magouyrk pointed to high profile wins like a seven billion dollar Pentagon contract as markers of stability. By the fiscal year 2027, Oracle expects to see revenues hit at least 90 billion dollars, signaling confidence that its heavy investments in infrastructure will eventually pay off through sustained enterprise demand for AI tools and agentic workflows.
