Investment adviser who defrauded NFL’s Travis Kelce sentenced to 11 years in prison

A Texas based investment adviser has been sentenced to eleven years in federal prison after orchestrating a massive Ponzi scheme that targeted high profile clients, including Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce. Siddharth Jawahar, thirty eight, was ordered by a judge to pay over thirty one million dollars in restitution to his victims following his guilty plea to three counts of wire fraud earlier this year. While Kelce was specifically identified in court as one of the individuals defrauded, further details regarding the exact amount lost by the NFL athlete were not disclosed.

The fraud centered around Jawahar’s firm, Swiftarc Capital LLC, where he lured investors with promises of growth while secretly funneling nearly all client funds into a single entity called Philip Morris Pakistan. As the value of that investment plummeted, Jawahar allegedly lied to his clients and fabricated profit reports to keep them from withdrawing their money. Prosecutors revealed that although Jawahar collected more than thirty five million dollars from investors, he only actually invested ten million of it. The remaining funds were used to sustain a lavish lifestyle featuring private jets, luxury apartments in New York and Austin, and exclusive club memberships.

During the sentencing hearing, Judge Zachary Bluestone emphasized the enormous financial losses and the length of time Jawahar maintained the deception. The judge noted that Jawahar had weaponized the trust of his clients and pointed out that the defendant’s failure to begin repaying victims played a significant role in the severity of the sentence. Further complicating matters, prosecutors alleged that Jawahar attempted to obstruct justice after his indictment by coaching witnesses and asking family members to wipe data from his phone to destroy evidence.

In contrast to the prosecution’s portrayal, Jawahar’s defense attorney described him as a good man who made serious mistakes and is now taking full ownership of his actions. According to his legal team, Jawahar has spent his time awaiting sentencing attempting to find ways to recover funds for those he cheated while mentoring fellow inmates. Despite these claims of remorse, Jawahar faces over a decade behind bars for what officials characterized as a calculated betrayal of investor confidence.
