$35M Ponzi scheme bilked Missouri investors, reportedly linked to Travis Kelce

A federal judge in St. Louis has sentenced 38 year old Siddharth Jawahar to 11 years in prison after he orchestrated a massive 35 million dollar Ponzi scheme that preyed on investors throughout Missouri. In addition to the prison term, Jawahar was ordered to pay over 31 million dollars in restitution to those defrauded by his Texas based firm, Swiftarc Capital LLC. For nearly eight years, Jawahar lured clients with promises of high returns, though investigators found that he actually invested only a small fraction of the capital he collected.

The scale of the deception involved diverting nearly all client funds into an overseas tobacco company known as Philip Morris Pakistan. When that investment plummeted in value, Jawahar allegedly hid the losses from his clients and fabricated profit reports to keep them complacent. According to the Department of Justice, he maintained this facade by using money from new arrivals to pay off earlier investors, effectively fueling a lavish personal lifestyle characterized by private jets, luxury apartments in Austin and New York City, and exclusive club memberships.

Adding a layer of celebrity intrigue to the legal fallout is a reported link to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. Previous reporting from Forbes suggested that Kelce and several other professional athletes had placed money into a venture fund managed by Swiftarc. While these connections have surfaced in public records, it remains unclear exactly how much Kelce invested or what total loss he may have sustained during the collapse of the scheme.

Beyond the financial crimes, prosecutors painted a picture of a man desperate to evade justice toward the end of his operation. Court documents indicate that Jawahar attempted to manipulate victims into providing false statements to the FBI and even tried to convince his sister to remotely wipe his iPhone to destroy digital evidence. After pleading guilty to three counts of wire fraud earlier this year, Jawahar now faces more than a decade behind bars following an investigation conducted by both the FBI and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
